I’m trying something new so here goes! Every Tue I’m trying something new so here goes! Every Tuesday I’m posting an awesome trip itinerary. Something in between a full, in-depth blog post, and a single pretty Instagram pic. • Today’s itinerary is—Boston to Bar Harbor (AKA the home of Acadia National Park!) ⛵️🍩🌲 • I highly recommend this road trip to anyone in New England or anyone wanting to experience New England. It’s a perfect mix of cities and nature, ocean and forest, donuts and breweries... • You can do the drive from Boston to Bar Harbor (Massachusetts to Maine for any geography buffs) in a few hours, even taking the scenic coastal drive, but we stopped in quirky, brewery-filled Portland for a night in between. • Portland is devastatingly charming—the harbor view from our VRBO wasn’t too bad either. Make sure you explore the waterfront downtown, promenade, and get a famous potato donut (I know, sounds weird, but it tasted like a normal donut 🤷🏼‍♀️ which for all I know are also made of potatoes. Idk how to make a donut). • New England is also known for lobster rolls. After extensive (... there were excel docs) research, we decided on Red’s Eats. Lobster rolls are a bit spendy not to mention extremely filling, so we just had one shot at eating the best lobster roll in Maine. Red’s Eats delivered! If you can smell the ocean from the lobster shack, it’s a good sign ⚓️ • Last stop, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park! Bar Harbor is a quintessential New England seaside town, and is so much fun to explore. We were going to go whale watching but a storm drove us indoors to the Bar Harbor winery instead 😬 their blueberry wine rocked my world. • Once the weather cleared, we enjoyed Acadia’s adventurous Beehive hike and amazing views at the top! • Here’s the itinerary: • Boston, MA ➡️ Portland, ME + The Holy Donut ➡️ Wiscasset, ➡️ Acadia National Park + Bar Harbor, ME! • This is just a quick overview of a 3-4 day trip (which is what the full blog post is for—I’ll be posting on my story when it’s up later this week!) but I’d love to know what people who have done this trip think! • For example, what was your favorite stop along the way? ALSO, which flavor of potato donut did you get? 🤗
All right, y’all, talk to me about the Northern All right, y’all, talk to me about the Northern Rockies in late May vs early September 🏔 • To keep myself (moderately) sane, I’m planning a camping road trip. MAYBE. Probably. • I am QUITE worried that going to the Tetons/Yellowstone/Glacier in late May, assuming it’s safe to do so, will be miserably cold. I don’t completely despise hiking when it’s chilly—I’ve camped in Yellowstone in mid June before and it was doable (chilly and rainy, yes, but fine), but that’s the earliest I’ve been to the Northern Rockies. • ALSO, is the fact that Going to the Sun road won’t be open yet enough reason to save Glacier for another time, like September? • I realize 1) this is shameless crowdsourcing and 2) I could Google it (don’t worry, I have) but what’s the point of having a community of awesome wise outdoorsy people on Instagram if you can’t get their take on a hypothetical road trip? 🤷🏼‍♀️
